We did it! We trekked our way over to Disneyland and had the ultimate birthday celebration for Halie and babymoon for me. Daddy Han made it all happen, by treating us like the princesses (that we are) and got us season passes! You go, daddy!
- After debating and comparing prices/passes for days, we narrowed down our options to either 1. spending the night at Grand Californian Hotel or 2. buying season pass. We decided to go with the latter because spending ONE night at Grand Californian Hotel ends up being the same price as buying season pass for two adults, and with our church being only 5 minutes away, we can always go after church!
Halie wasn't sure what was happening when we first parked and got on the tram. As a matter of fact, she didn't care if she had her Minnie Mouse ears on or not... she wasn't thrilled.
Because Daddy Han bought season passes, this trip was less excruciating as I had originally expected. We took it lightly and enjoyed the day.
We first went on the Peter Pan ride, to "test drive" how Halie would do on dark rides. Surprisingly, she did okay! It was visual overload for her, I think. She was silent and kept looking left and right. Mommy didn't do too well, on the other hand. The turns were sharper than remembered and felt a tiny little bit of motion sickness kicking in- luckily, it never lasted.
Then, we went on the Dumbo ride.
After the Dumbo ride, Halie got super excited to go on the Carousel.
Next, we did the Disneyland must and went on the "It's a Small World" boat ride. At this point, Uncle Jeff (who came with us) had fully convinced Daddy Han to play "Pokemon Go!" and were busy chatting in the back about the game, while Halie and Mommy enjoyed all the different countries represented.
Next, would have to be the highlight of this trip. We went over to ToonTown to go visit Mickey and Minnie Mouse. After being in line for about 20 minutes, it was finally our turn to meet Mickey. We really thought she'd be excited and happy to meet him. But we were wrong- very wrong. It must've been the life-size Mickey that scared her because as soon as we approached him to take a photo, this happened..
After this scarring meet-n-greet, Halie must've been tired because she KNOCKED OUT. It was a hot day and we were also getting hungry so we decided to go out to Downtown Disney to grab lunch. We ate at Naples Restaurant and Uncle Jeff and Daddy Han continued to catch more Pokemon during our lunch break. We then decided to go to California Adventure park so that we can get our Disneyland churros (the best!) and/or catch more Pokemon... Unfortunately, there weren't as many toddler-friendly attractions at California Adventure and it was just way too hot to spend any more time there. So, we called it a day and decided to go home!
Overall, it was a successful trip, with just the right amount of rides, excitement, and tolerance to heat and walking. I look forward to coming back another day!
