Friday Favorites - Jules Edition

Happy Friday everyone!

This week was rough, man! 2016-2017 school year kicked off this week and although I didn't forget how exhausting working full time and balancing home life is, I did forget how tiring that first few weeks of school is. Not to mention, I feel so pregnant and this heat is not helping.

I mentioned on my Tuesday post how I felt like I was ready for the school year but I'm really not... Well, with week one done, I feel better. I honestly think it was the empty walls in my class that was haunting me, making me feel like I was unprepared. However, just as I told my students, I don't want my walls to be filled with posters and things that I've done. The walls are there to showcase their (students') works and things we are currently working on. So I've learned to take my own word and embrace that..

With that said, I share with you my first ever photo of year six classroom!

Here is my panoramic photo of the classroom... "Camp Learn-A-Lot" is the theme this year!  "Camping Out with a Book"/"Camp Chores"/"Tent Points"/camp themed behavior chart/"Spotlight on Good Work"/Word Wall Woods/"Our Campfire Stories"/"Math is a Picnic" headings.  The students are working on our door decoration- "Fired Up for 6th Grade" with campfire & s'mores to be posted soon!

First week is always the most challenging because it's not so much content driven, but procedure and routine driven. If this isn't established (well) the first few weeks of school then you can kiss the entire year good bye. My students were very understanding and flexible with the broken AC (finally got a portable AC installed today for the time being) so I decided to reward them with Camp Crunch Snack!

It's been difficult to cook dinner after a full day of work so husband has been very understanding with eating out practically this entire week. On Tuesday, we went to go eat Thai and this was what Halie/I got as our fortune. Needless to say, the Lees are all very excited to welcome baby #2 in less 9 weeks! Family will definitely be our highest priority!

Saving my most favorite thing of this week for last... there's no one like your mama.
My mom came over yesterday, despite having a really long and tiring past few weeks of work, to cook me her Back to School meal. Her green bean casserole has been a tradition since I was in elementary school! She up'ed it this year accommodating to my husband & daughter's taste palate as well as my pregnancy palate. She cooked three different major dishes for us! It was so delicious and I feel like I haven't eaten this well in days! LOL
